Entertainment: A family that plays together...

There's a lot of things to do in the Hudson Valley as a family. In my family, we bowl. Once a week, you'll find us at our local bowling center bowling in an adult/child league. It gives us that one time each week where we are together and now that the kids are a bit older and have jobs and other activities, finding that time is harder to do.

It's also a great way to bring the kids into your world. What do you like to do? Sharing time with the kids doesn't always have to be something they like to do. When my kids were little, I would sit on the floor and play cars and Barbie dolls, and color, but after awhile, even though I enjoyed our time together, it wore on me. I was anxious to do other things with them that I enjoyed too.

So I brought them into my world. I enjoy musicals and movies, so I introduced them to the old classic entertainers and productions -- Lucille Ball, Abbott and Costello, Singin' in the Rain and so many more. They laughed and loved it. And we started going to movies and shows together and, of course, bowling. So, what do YOU like to do? Cook? Ski? Scrapbook? My neighbor and his son go golfing together, probably more than once a week. Introduce the kids to what you want to do and find a place in the Hudson Valley to share that time together.
